The Gmunden Experience
Hotel Esplanade is the ideal starting point for walks around the Old Town, shopping trips and visits to cultural and traditional events. It’s just a few minutes walk to inner city shops, the museums, the city theatre and the city square with its time-honoured Renaissance city hall and the renowned ceramic chimes.
Particularly enjoyable in the summer is also a boat trip on the “Gisela” – one of the world’s oldest paddle steamers. Or take a walk along the esplanade to Toscana Park idyllically situated with a view of the nearby picturesque Seeschloss Ort castle. And visit the world-renowned Gmunden Ceramics Works, where you can take a trip through the plant and rummage through products in the factory outlet.
TIP: The Gmunden farmer’s market is a whirl of colour every Tuesday afternoon with fresh regional & seasonal products. Moreover, in winter the particularly popular “Christkindl” Christmas market is held here on all four advent weekends, amid the romantic winter magic.
